The one who is corrected, even if it is unfairly, must know how to submit humbly "to the will of each one, without worrying about who speaks, being the superior, the inferior or the equal, accepts everything for good, does not rejoicing only in self-contempt and in the glory of the Lord” (Im.C).
Monastic Chapter
These are wholesome meditations, corrections and warnings that the holy abbots and abbesses of monastic history have made to their monks and nuns. You can also find some meditations from the Janua Coeli Monastery Chapter.
"On Sunday, or on other days, if necessary, you will attend to the maintenance of order, when, also,
by charity, the excesses and guilt that the brothers have incurred will be corrected."
The Rule is wise, when the Chapter each week is not forgotten, when the Community grows in monastic discipline, and the end for which the Lord joined them is not lost.
The zeal for the preservation of the Order, that is, it does not begin to decline in regular observance, therefore, alone already solves the case of the 'salvation' of souls, where the ``merits'' of the consecration of each apply. And for this to be done truthfully, a fraternal correction is necessary, from which come the future abuses and the lack of relaxation in the Orders.
In fraternal life, human errors and weaknesses are inevitable; therefore, with a merciful and humble spirit, we must recognize our faults and help our brothers on the path of virtue. Humility, dialogue and transparency are fundamental for a good fraternal coexistence.
Our Lord left us the golden rule (Mt 7:12), where he teaches us authentic Christian action. Before wanting to correct the faults of others, we must analyze our conduct so as not to make hasty judgment, wanting to remove the 'speck from our brother's eye when we have a beam in ours' (Mt 7, 5; and cf. Mt 5, 21-22). However, when we see that a brother's soul is in great danger and he cannot see it alone, we have a duty to try to help and correct him.
