“Et induxi vos in terram Carmeli ut comederetis fructum eyus et optima illius” (Jr 2,7)

Why Monastic Life?

Because Heaven is our Fatherland!

Welcome to the world of Karmel!

A Carmelite Monastery

The great paradox of the soul is that the Promised Land is not a destination, but a memory. We are called to the Karmel the very mountain of God’s abundant goodness, only to discover that the journey is a return. We seek the fruit and the goodness of a place we have never truly left.

The world, in its grand, noisy complexity, is merely a shadow-play of the Inner Garden. We were exiled from Eden not by a geographical expulsion, but by a failure of attention. The Tree of Life did not vanish; it merely became invisible to the distracted eye

.To ascend the Mount Karmel is, therefore, to descend into the depths of the self. It is the glorious, absurd task of finding the wild, untamed innocence that was never lost, but merely misplaced beneath the rubble of experience. The fruit we are commanded to eat is the sweet, sharp taste of reality, the simple, astonishing fact of our union with the Divine, a union so complete that to seek it is to deny its perpetual presence

.We are the prodigal sons who never left the Father’s house, yet insist on starving in the fields. The Heavenly Orchard is within, and the only true pilgrimage is the short, terrifying step from the outer noise to the inner silence, where the fruit is already ripe and the goodness is eternally waiting. The paradise regained is merely the paradise remembered

Secret  Garden

SCHOOL OF THE PROPHETS

Entering this secret garden means fighting with the strength and power of Elijah, meditating, contemplating and experiencing the sweetness of the Virgin Mary. This doesn't mean the Blessed Virgin Mary doesn't have the aspect of the struggle and the fight, nor Saint Elijah doesn't have the sweetness and the gentle breeze, but each one better represents until the end one of the faces of Karmel.

MONKS - THE GREAT KARMEL

Some fight with the flag,  others to music, liven up and encourage the fight, others with swords, bows and arrows.   Others go on horseback,
on foot, some remain on the Mount
with their arms raised for the
duration of the battle, but in all the strength of the Lord guides and protects them,  for they are fighting for the same ideal.

HOSPITALITY

Help Rebuild Karmel

“The Levitical priests, all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel. They shall eat the Lord's food offerings[a] as their[b] inheritance. They shall have no inheritance among their brothers; the Lord is their inheritance, as he promised them”.  (Deut. 18, 1-2)

The faithful Catholics knowing that t

he priests, and even the consecrated souls who help them in the service of the Lord alone, have no inheritance on this earth, being in the world as a sign of eternal life, they help them

according to their means.

Therefore, if you wish, you can make a donation directly to the Monastery.
